Neuschwanstein Castle

Restoration of Neuschwanstein Castle with NHL of OTTERBEIN

Neuschwanstein Castle was built in 1869 for the Bavarian King Ludwig II as an idealized idea of a knight's castle from the Middle Ages. However, the king lived only a few months in the castle, he died before the completion of the plant. Today Neuschwanstein is considered one of the most famous castles in the world and is one of the most famous sights in Germany.

As part of various refurbishment work to preserve this magnificent structure, our HYDRADUR ® NHL 5 and CALCIDUR ® NHL 2 hydraulic  limescale were used.

These special binders are characterized by the fact that they harden from the air both by the chemical reaction with water and by the absorption of carbon dioxide. As a result, they have a high elasticity and a continuous, low-stress hardening course, whereby wall or plaster damage to historic buildings are effectively avoided.

Thanks to these special properties, our Naturally Hydraulic Limes could make an important contribution to the sustainable preservation of the valuable building fabric of Schloss Neuschwanstein.
